Now on to the task of finding a builder. So many trips and so many houses, in the end they almost all begin to look the same. After much thought and so many lists with what we wanted we finally decide on an Adenbrook home, the Lakewood 29 with a few adjustments. Mainly we wanted a larger garage with access to the backyard (as there will be no side access), a door from the garage into the house and we needed our bedroom changed around so we could take advantage of the view, so a sliding door was added.
Now came all the decisions of how many light fittings, how many powerpoints, things that are too numerous too mention. Having been promised a start date at the end of May we happily set off on holidays to Fiji, expecting our place to be under way by the time we returned home. Not so!! Apparently the council had other ideas. So what should have been a given turned into a saga of epic proportions. We now had to get ctv footage of the inside of the easment on our block before we started to build and once the building was completed, just to show we didn`t do any damage, even thoug we aren`t allowed to build anywhere near it. Then they wanted the footings changed and finally they wanted the retaining walls redesigned!!
Our start date was now coming up to almost 3 months later. Finally we got the phone call from the builder to say hey the cut will be made on your block in the next 2 weeks. So imagine our surprise when we went for a trip down to have a look and expecting to be disappointed found they had actually done the cut!! Hooray we were finally under way!!
